How It Works

Focus Life offers our individual courses in the following applications to help educate, equip and empower individuals and students to focus in navigating their future.

Focus Life Institute is an on-line, educational, strategic training curriculum that equips, educates and
empowers individuals to FOCUS on identifying their calling and assignment in life, achieve their purpose
and fulfill their destiny.

Our curriculum provides a personalized experience for students in the following areas:

  • SEL – Social Emotional Learning Support

  • Creating A Personal Vision Statement and Identifying Passion Areas

  • Behavioral Development – Understanding Self and the Motivations of Others

  • Matching Student’s Behavioral Style With Jobs in the 16 Career Clusters
  • Equipping in the Top 10 Soft Skills + Interviewing To Secure Their Desired Job
  • Setting Career, Educational and Personal Goals
  • Values and Character Development for Workplace Success

  • Transition to Work or Post-Secondary Education

This Junior High School development tool was designed for students to help them through a process to make quality decisions about their future education, career path and to be prepared for the workplace.

The Module provides an online personalized experience for Middle School students that provides training on key topics, activities and artifacts of the mandatory program.

Each student will be equipped in the four focus areas of career awareness/preparation, career
acquisition, career retention/advancement and entrepreneurship.

Each student will have ability for
online note taking as well as creating a summary portfolio.

The current career statistics reflect an ongoing concern about career readiness.

  • An estimated 20 to 50 percent of students enter a post-secondary education experience

The Focus Life Institute team with their combined education and Fortune 500 management expertise have developed an online practical, personalized course that has been administered in schools, colleges
and businesses.

The purpose of the online Focus Life Institute is to empower, equip and prepare students in the
following areas:

  • Identify your personalized behavioral style while gaining an understanding of self and others.
  • Craft a career path by matching your personal behavioral style to jobs in the 16 National Career
    Clusters.
  • Discover and research specific jobs that relate to your behavior and interests.

  • Pinpoint values that can help you advance in the workplace such as The HEROES Effect. The acronym for HEROES is H – Honor, E – Excellence, R – Responsibility, O – Order, E – Expectation and S – Servanthood.
  • Create a career portfolio that will combine your profiles and activities in one document that can be utilized as you apply for post-secondary education or training. This development tool was designed for high school students to help them through a process to make quality decisions about their future education, career path and to be prepared for the workplace. The Career Ready and Workplace Preparation course provides an online personalized experience for high school students that provides training in social-emotional learning support, career readiness, and
transition to work or post-secondary education.

According to a Youth Truth Student Survey:

  • 55% of students do not feel positively about their college and career readiness
  • 87% of students surveyed said they want to go to college, while only 2.8% do not, and 10%
    percent aren’t sure
  • 71% percent of students said they expect to go to a two- or four-year college. students, only

Principles for Success program will help students identify their specific virtues they can develop to be successful in their personal and professional life. The course focuses on six principles with a profile and examples underlying values and character development as follows:

The FOCUS Behavioral Profile course provides a personalized profile based on the DISC Personality system. The more you know about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, the easier it will be to stay focused and make better quality decisions.
The Focus Behavioral Style Profile equips you to understand your unique behavioral style and how it impacts others. By learning proven behavioral principles, you’ll improve communication, build stronger connections, and adapt your approach to maximize influence and results.

Our Finding Life’s Direction program will provide students with a process to get focused on their career path to be prepared for life and their future. It includes:

  1. Creating a Vision Statement – Vision is where you are going in life. Without a vision, people perish.
  2. Passion—What Motivates Me Most? We identify your
    passion areas!
  3. Placement – Identifying Your Sphere of Influence. This session provides a vocational profile to identify your spheres of influence. – Business, education, government, media, family, religion, arts, and entertainment.
  4. Personality – Understanding what motivates self and adaptability while  interacting with others. We use the DISC behavioral assessment system to identify those traits and  qualities that shape our behavior and personality as well helping in social emotion learning.
  5. Profession – this session matches your personality style with jobs in the 16 Career Clusters finding the right career choice saving time and money.
  6. Peak Performance – create personal, educational and career goals to secure your future and the destiny God has for you in life. The end result is an action plan to achieve your dream and fulfill your destiny!

Our Skills For Success program is a personalized and powerful program focusing on the top 10 employable essential soft skills that groups, organizations, and employers are requiring for graduates. For over the past 20 years, employers have continued to say that graduates coming out of high school or college lack the professional skills to be able to be successful within their company or organization.   • Characteristics of Successful Entrepreneurs – we help identify the top characteristics of entrepreneurs and how they became successful.
  • Personality and Behavioral Traits of Entrepreneurs – learn how to understand your gift cluster and how they align with other entrepreneurs.
  • Basic Components of a Business Plan – we provide a template to create your own business plan.

  • The Power of Focus – people who are focused accomplish their life goals.
  • Identifying Distractions – we live in an age of distractions and we help you identify them. We provide solutions to overcome distractions.
  • Focused Environment – we help you create a focused quiet environment to hear the voice of God and make better quality decisions for your life.
  • Focused Effort – you must direct your efforts into those areas that will produce a greater return on investment.
  • Focused Energy – you only have a specific amount of energy and you must find those areas that fill you up versus the areas that drain your strength.
  • Focused Execution – by utilizing the OGSM Method (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures) you can begin a proven process to achieve your personal and professional goals and fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

We have replaced our current 8th grade career guidance material with The Focus Life Institute’s online program entitled Finding Life’s Direction. This educational programming component assists students in finding out who they are, how to understand and work with others, and a career path for their future.

Finding Life’s Direction is a student development tool containing educational materials that meets the requirements of PA Act 339. It is unique in its presentation because of its individualized guidance. possibilities. Finding Life’s Direction uses a personalized profiling system which match students’ individual behavioralstylewith the occupations in the 16 national career clusters.

It was a fun and enjoyable educational experience for our students. The learning materials were easy to
access because of the online format while giving our Career Guidance Counselor the flexibility to pick and choose sections that best meet the needs of our school’s objectives.

Consider our experiences:
• Instructors have the freedom to create own activities to accompany online lessons.
• Students enjoyed the material followed by a hands-on, energetic activity that allowed them to interact with other students.
• Unlike other inventories, students connected with the real-life application and fit to their personality and potential career choices.
• Students thoroughly enjoyed the implanted videos within the lessons; these media break-up the monotony of a full lecture period.
